It's been a long time since I last read anything from CARIAN COLE, so this book, TORN, is high on my list of "I want this book now" :-D

MY OPINION

What a lovable man. My heart is full of love for this man. And for this beauty of a story.

It might have a bit of a taboo label due to the age gap in the couple, but this novel is what a romance about the true, undeniable, forever meaning of love should be.

The forbidden nature of Tor and Kenzi's relationship only ads palpable layers to the depth of the feelings and the sensitivity of the words. The author has taken a very delicate subject matter and breathed life and heart into it.

I felt drawn to the sweet and relatable family dynamics, at both the good and bad times, of this bunch of musicians and rock stars and bikers. I thought it was so interesting and endearing all that related to dogs and dog rescue. And I felt absolutely engrossed with how the relationship between Kenzi and Tor evolves. After he helps raising her, with all kind of poignant memories that appear in the text as prefaced to the chapters in double POV, their unique bond changes in waves of awareness and sensuality and the chance of a future togeter. I really touched me, inspired me.

One of the best things about this story is that the bond has always been present between them, yet the mature nature of it catches them unaware and they fight it, especially the grown man. They deal with all aspects of this shocking but healing love. They battle the consequences, how they will affect their family, but also embrace how well matched they are in all that makes them who they are. It's keenly beautiful.

I also love Kenzy with all her talents and loving soul, and the intricate way the other characters' lives shine through the main story.

This book is a long one, and it took longer for it to reach my greedy mind to be read, but now I'm so happy that it's here with me, as part of my memories. It's perfect.

On a side note, I'm eager to read all the other stories about the band members and the bikers. They look so exciting!

Prologue

Kenzi one day old

Toren fifteen years old

“We want you to be her Godfather,” Asher says as he gently lays his newborn baby into my arms. I have to tear my gaze away from her spellbinding eyes to look up at him from the chair I’m cradling the baby in.

“Me?” I repeat, glancing over at Ember in the hospital bed, who beams back at me with a tired, yet genuine smile.

“Yes, you,” they both say at the same time. “If it wasn’t for you, we probably never would have met,” Ember adds, grabbing Asher’s hand. “And we wouldn’t have this beautiful little baby. We know you’ll always protect her.”

“That’s right, man. You’re Uncle Tor now.”

I’m an uncle. And my two best friends are parents. And we’re all f*ckin’ under sixteen.

But Kenzi Allyster Valentine would change us all forever. She needed us.

“Wow. I’m honored, guys. No doubt, I’ll always be here for her.”

I kick back the pang that hits my stomach. I didn’t get the girl…but I got something better that I never expected.
